GOLF
- We have three excellent pay-and-play courses within a mile or
so. You could easily walk to Newbattle. Kings
Acre and Melville
Golf Centre are less than five minutes by car and also
have excellent driving ranges.
Scotland, of course, is the home of golf and you will find a
comprehensive guide to its courses at Scottish
Golf.
GARDENS
- While Edinburgh is home to the famous Royal
Botanic Gardens, there are several other interesting
gardens to visit outside the City. Details of many more
gardens around Scotland can be found at Garden
Visit and the National
Trust for Scotland. We also have an excellent Garden
Centre, Dobbies,
just a couple of miles away.
WEDDINGS
- We are often asked to accommodate guests attending weddings
in the spectacular surroundings of nearby Dalhousie
Castle and Borthwick
Castle.
PONY
TREKKING - This
is available at nearby Pentland
Icelandics, Britain's largest herd of these horses.

- You may seek the very special and choose to dine out at Dalhousie
Castle, Bonnyrigg - in the Orangerie or Dungeon
restaurants .....it is an unforgettable delight. You
could precede this with De-Stressing in their fabulous Aqueous
Spa .
Within
100 metres of the Eskbank is the Justinlees pub which has a
good low cost 3-course menu. A 200 metre walk into
Dalkeith takes you to fine Chinese food. Cavaliere
Italian Restaurant , an authentic Italian restaurant ,-
500 metres from The Guesthouse at Eskbank. The County Hotel 300 m from the Eskbank
in Dalkeith has a very good reputation. A traditional
pub the Laird
and Dog is just a mile or so away in Lasswade away. It has an excellent
conservatory restaurant and fine food. You might also choose
the new Indian restaurant also in Lasswade. We
can give you directions to all of these.
